Xchange Revealing, Chicago Cultural Center |
Last week, the Global Alliance of Artists Environment Xchange revealed seven featured projects, selected by Xchange members earlier this fall. Artists and representatives from environmental groups across the Chicago region gathered at the Chicago Cultural Center to learn more about these projects which will take place throughout 2012 and 2013.
At the event, each featured project provided a snapshot of the great opportunities they offer the art and environment community. If you were unable to attend, explore the projects below for more information and visit Facebook for a visual tour of the event:
- Fragile Relations: Art, Nature and Environment (10/2/12-2/8/13): The Fragile Relations exhibition highlights work by 13 Illinois artists who are inspired by nature and the environment.
- Art Outside: The Tour (10/13/12): Join the Forest Preserve District of Cook County on a tour of several of its sites and venues in order to imagine, develop, and discuss partnership opportunities that combine art and nature.
- Joe's Garage (December, 2012): "Joe's Garage" is a venue for exchanging art supplies. Artists can bring materials they don't need and take new-to-them materials.
- Art for the Birds (April-May, 2013): Artists are invited to submit their bird-friendly window designs to the "Art for the Birds" competition. Cash prizes offered.
- GARLIC & GREENS (May, 2013): Join a participatory workshop to explore stories and situations through the senses of sound, touch, taste, and smell.
- Climate Change Xchange (May, 2013): This workshop presents research on climate science, local impacts, and community engagement strategies. Join us to discuss climate-friendly creativity.
- Openlands Lakeshore Preserve Tour (June, 2013): Attend this tour of the Preserve and learn about areas of ecological significance as well as the outdoor art installations.
Thank you to all the Revealing's sponsors including Sharprint, Consolidated Printing, Peeled, Eli's Cheesecake, the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, Chicago Wilderness, The Field Museum, and Filament Theatre.
